ORGANIZATIONS EXCITED ABOUT FILM THAT TELLS THE TALE OF ALL TAILS THIS CHRISTMAS
WATERLOO— November 10th, 2017— Children’s ministries across the nation are getting excited for Christmas early this year, as they anticipate the November 17th release of Affirm Films and Sony Pictures Animation’s new movie, THE STAR. THE STAR, an animated film that explores the nativity scene from a new perspective, is directed and produced by an award-winning creative team, and brought to life by a star-studded vocal cast.
In anticipation of THE STAR Canadian launch on November 17th, Graf-Martin Communications recruited six impactful organizations from across Canada come alongside the film as ministry partners. Confirmed partners include:
- Break Forth Canada (One Church. One God. One Weekend)
- Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec Children & Family
- Child Evangelism Fellowship Manitoba (Reaching Children Worldwide)
- Child Evangelism Fellowship Ontario (Sharing Jesus with Ontario’s Children)
- Family Life Canada (Help for Today. Hope for Tomorrow)
- Seeds of Hope (Helping Orphans Around the World)
These ministry partners attended VIP pre-screenings across Canada in early November and are promoting the film prior to opening weekend. Good sales for a film opening weekend are critical for a film to stay in Canadian theatres for the forthcoming weeks. Attendees had nothing but praise for the film, offering feedback such as: “The creativity, the characters, humour, excellent animation, all of it was a fantastic movie that I can fully support and encourage families to attend”, and “Such a well-done movie; it’s funny, it’s serious and the story of course the best Story ever – the Birth of Jesus.” Although exact theatres will not be announced until the Tuesday prior to release, THE STAR will be releasing widely in Canadian theatres on November 17th, 2017.
In THE STAR, a small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a loveable sheep who has lost her flock, and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.
