3 Insights From Gillian McShane

1) When a Leader Changes, the World Changes

Good leadership has a trickle-down effect. When a leader is growing and changing, the whole team is growing and changing. When a leader is stagnant, everything grinds to a halt and there can be discomfort. Gillian believes that when this happens, it has the ability to change entire organizations and can shift the fabrics of our communities and the world.

2) Reach Out

Though not everyone can reach out to a Life Coach, it is important to have people in your life that you can bounce ideas off of and just get external input from. Gillian says that many people have reached out to her because people are feeling the stress and burnout of the COVID pandemic and need help dealing with stress. Gillian likens it to a high-performance athlete, in the sense that working through your personal issues allows you to be the best version of yourself that you can be which in turn strengthens those around you.

3) Know Yourself

Gillian McShane

When Ellen asks how best to find a Life Coach or mentor to guide you, Gillian responds that the person who connected them really knew both of their personalities and knew that Gillian would be a great coach for Ellen. When trying to find a mentor for yourself, it is important to know your personality and know what kind of person would suit you best. You want to be challenged, but also need to feel understood and that comes from knowing what you need. Want to hear the full conversation?
