Inside The Acorn: Week 3
-editor’s note: some of this information is historical

This week flew by, and heading into the long weekend it’s safe to say I’ve got spreadsheets on the brain.

I spent my time Monday through Thursday compiling a mainstream media database to be used during an exciting new project we’ve got coming up in the fall. More details on this later, but let’s just say you’ll definitely have heard of this woman, whether you’re a Christian- book reader, or not. Updating this database meant a lot of work in Excel and Cision; an extremely useful database for any public relations professional.

When I needed a break from Cision, I helped Tim with some blog analytics. We’ve got over 300 active bloggers (and yes, Julie somehow manages ALL of them). While we value all of our bloggers and reviewers, we obviously need some way to determine their effectiveness. Enter blog analytics- this meant working with Alexa, Quantcast and scouring each blog to determine their page views and subscribers. Although time consuming, this task gave me the opportunity to see some of the work our bloggers help us with.

On Friday afternoon the ladies on the team went to the Crossroads Christian Communications center in Burlington to attend a luncheon featuring our author, Kay Warren and her new book, Choose Joy. The luncheon is part of an event series being held to celebrate Crossroads 50th anniversary. Being someone who had heard of Kay Warren but didn’t know a lot about her work, this was a great opportunity to be surrounded by women of faith and hear Kay speak on finding joy in Christ.
